When is the best time to start a fertility coaching business?

The latest figures from the World Health Organization show that 1 in 6 people worldwide will face fertility challenges in their lifetime. And while it might feel like we are talking about fertility more than ever (and we are!), so much still goes on behind the scenes and in silence.

Ready to hear my big dream…? That one day, no one going through a fertility journey will ever have to walk alone. It’s why I became a fertility coach, and have dedicated my life to supporting women on their own journey to fertility coaching.

But starting your own business can feel scary (I’ve felt all those hesitations too!), and it’s overwhelming to know where to begin. Let’s take some baby steps and unpack the basics of starting your own fertility coaching business, and how to know the timing is right.

Woman sits on a white couch with coffee and a laptop. The title reads, "When is the best time to become a fertility coach?"

What is Fertility Coaching? A fertility coach acts as a guide - supporting women and families as they navigate the stressful experience of infertility and encouraging them to take charge of their journey. We work together to build a personalized action plan and set a forward momentum. Fertility coaches help with:

  • navigating the journey to becoming pregnant⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • staying pregnant ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • overcoming miscarriage ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • stress management & mindset work

  • how to find the positives in the journey⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • supplements ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • nutrition⠀⠀

What is the role of a Fertility Coach?

  • Preconception Care: This includes the diet, lifestyle, and mental health support that we work on as we prepare for conception and a health pregnancy.

  • Emotional Support: Fertility coaches help women manage stress, anxiety, and other emotions that can arise during a fertility journey and pregnancy with customized tools and plans.

  • Advocacy: The medical system can feel very overwhelming. A fertility coach can help women navigate the healthcare system and ensure they are getting the care they need.

When is the best time to start a fertility coaching business? Although fertility coaching may seem like a new field, it’s one that is growing. The global fertility market is expected to hit $47.9 billion by 2030. And there aren’t enough fertility coaches to go around. As one of the top fertility coaches in the industry who has coached thousands of women on their path, here are my tips to determine when is the best time to launch your fertility coaching business:

  1. Know your heart: If fertility is your passion, then your voice is needed in this community. However, we know that no one comes through a fertility journey without some scars. If your journey feels too tender and raw, then prioritize your own healing and care before diving in to help others.

  2. Build your toolbox: Personal experience is certainly important, but it’s not the only path. You want to feel confident as a coach and build trust with your clients. Do your research and build your toolbox from reputable sources. A certification program (more on that in a minute!) can provide you with the research-backed information you’ll need to be a valuable coach.

  3. Dive in: Whether you’re looking to make fertility coaching a side hustle or full-time business (either is possible!), the best time to start is now! Fertility issues impact people worldwide every day of the year. There is always a need for more support, so when you’re ready, then the timing is right!
