3 Ways I Got Through Difficult Infertility Struggles

My name is Elizabeth and I'm an IVF warrior who struggled with infertility. When I was trying to get pregnant, there were many days that I felt like I had hit my lowest point. Then, another miscarriage would come.

Every month that my period came, I thought to myself, "Where did I go wrong? What did I do to deserve this?" The disappointment and desperation I felt every month was debilitating. The fact I couldn't get pregnant was all I could think about.

I also didn’t feel like I had time to figure it out. I was already 41 at the time, and the clock was literally ticking. Every month, I felt like time was slipping out of my hands like sand.

There are a few things I did to take control of my life and be more positive during that difficult season. Here are the three things I did to find positivity when I was struggling to get pregnant:

I shifted my mindset and took control over my emotions.

During this difficult time, I decided that I was not going to let my situation control whether or not I was having a good day or a bad day. My emotional destiny was in my own hands and I was going to take the control back.

I took baby steps in shifting my mindset every day. Soon the small things added up to big changes—not only for me—but my spouse seeing his wife having joy again!

I changed my day-to-day outlook on the fertility process.

I am not going to pretend that infertility is okay. It is not fun and it is not easy, but I am here to tell you that it is possible to change your day-to-day outlook on the whole process. You will still have hard days, but the goal is to have more good days than bad.

I looked for a community.

None of us grow up thinking that we would be on an infertility journey, but we can change the way it looks and feels. When I was going through infertility, I felt very alone, so I sought help from specialists and women going through similar experiences that would support me in my journey.

I've been a Certified Life Coach for over 10 years, but my own fertility journey prompted me to specialize in supporting the TTC community. I invite you to join me and our community to shift your mindset through your journey. Show yourself and those around you how you are growing as a person and using this experience to learn more about yourself.
